A valid licence for the towns they build in.
Liability insurance
Coverage in place in case something goes wrong on your property.
WorkSafeBC coverage
Their crew is covered, so you aren't on the hook for injuries.
Past decks and reviews

Questions
Before you send a request
Still unsure? Email hello@valleydeckbuilders.ca and a real person will reply.
Does it cost anything?
No. It's free for homeowners, with no obligation to hire anyone. Describe your deck project once and we pass it to up to 3 vetted local deck builders who cover your town and do that kind of work.
Are you a deck builder?
No. We're an independent matching service. We don't build decks, set prices or take payment for jobs. Builders contact you directly with quotes, and your agreement is with the builder you choose.
Why up to 3 quotes?
Three quotes is enough to see a fair price range and compare how different builders would approach your deck, without your phone ringing all week. Read more on why comparing quotes pays off.
How quickly will builders contact me?
Usually within 1–2 business days. In spring, when builders are busiest, it can take a little longer, which is one reason to plan your deck in fall or winter.
How are builders vetted?
Before joining, each builder confirms a valid business licence, liability insurance and WorkSafeBC coverage. We also look at photos of past decks and public reviews, and remove builders who get repeated complaints.
What does a deck cost in the Lower Mainland?
As a rough guide, about $35–65 per sq ft installed for pressure-treated wood and $60–100 for composite, before railings, stairs and permits. Raised and covered decks cost more. Try the deck cost calculator for your size and height.
Do I need a permit for my deck?
Often, yes. Rules differ by town: a few exempt decks under 600 mm (about 2 ft), while others need a permit for almost any deck. Check your town on our deck permit pages, and confirm with your city.
What should I have ready before I ask for quotes?
A rough size, how high the deck will be, the material you're leaning toward, and a few photos of the area. A budget range helps builders suggest the right options.
Ready to compare deck quotes?
Describe your deck once. It takes about two minutes, it's free, and there's no obligation.
